I’m from Knoxville, Tenn., and am a graduate of the University of Tennessee’s School of Communication. (Want more specifics? My degree is in news-editorial journalism, with a minor in creative writing. That means I can wield an X-acto knife, pica pole AND a copy of the Harbrace Handbook.)
My career has taken me from Lancaster, S.C., where I covered everything imaginable for The Lancaster News (“Sometimes Proud, Often Disappointed, Never Satisfied”), to Atlanta, where I worked in corporate communications (American City & County and Corporate Cashflow magazines) and toiled in the legal jungle at The Fulton County Daily Report.
Los Angeles was also a stop for several years, where I wrote and edited for a group of publications that included the Santa Monica News, Brentwood News, Westwood News and a start-up community paper for the Century City area. I also did marketing writing and editing for Insurance Marketing & Management Services, as well as celebrity interviews and a weekly column for Drama-Logue (later bought by BackStage West).
Back in Tennessee, I was the founding editor of the Volunteer Valley Business Journal in Knoxville, then relocated westward to become the tourism, hospitality and entertainment reporter for the Nashville Business Journal. Nowadays you can find me at Parthenon Publishing, where I write and edit for a client base that includes HCA, Cogent HMG, David Lipscomb University, TravelCenters of America, FleetOne, AmSurg, Fender, the Country Music Hall of Fame and many more.
